MITCHELL LIVING DESCENDANT: Hi, my name is Molly.

I was greeted at the door with a brilliant smile from ear to ear, an extended hand and the words “Hi, my name is Molly.”

Molly Glaeser graduated Ripon high school last year. She’s educated, smart, courteous, enthusiastic, and meeting her for the first time or anyone in her family will quickly make you feel welcome.

Not surprising, when you understand that she comes from a long line of family members who possess those same qualities and traits.

Recently her family has been heavily discussed within the community. More specifically family member Lloyd Mitchell, who left a half million dollar gift to the city of Ripon, the use of which remains undetermined.

Molly’s closest friends have confirmed she indeed comes from a strong bloodline of generosity. In fact her best friend Emily states:

“Molly is my best friend and through the years that I’ve known her, I’ve learned that she is a very passionate and determined person, hardworking and when she has her mind set on something there is no way she’ll be slowed down. Molly is also the single kindest person I’ve ever known, always there for others and highly generous. I love Molly very much and I’m so blessed to have her in my life.”

Molly isn’t just a strong pillar of support for her friends, she’s also there for her family as well.  She states that her mother Becky was very excited to learn the news of the family gift, but also said that “going to the city meeting was so stressful, because it felt everything had been decided already”. Molly has been there for her mother every step of the way.

Molly goes on to say that during her time in the Ripon School district, theater, dance and music was very important for her all through High School. Now as a student of the culinary arts she looks forward to blending the two together in her future.

“When you’re in the theater family, everyone really respects each other and yeah we don’t always get along. But you’re definitely a family.”

In regards to the great Mitchell family legacy and the significance in the world of archaeology, Molly states: ”I think it’s really deep because you don’t think of your family always as being such a big deal when you don’t study them. Then all of a sudden you’re being told that your family was really a big deal, and that’s really cool, because maybe someone you are related to is a lot bigger than you realize. I’m not trying to minimize what anyone else in history has done, but you don’t always get to hear about what people in your backyard have done.”

Molly having observed the political process regarding the gift says: “Well…a lot has happened, let’s just be honest about that. I think it’s quite interesting that the mayor used his first veto ever on this. Clearly he’s wanting to know more about what we can do with this gift. I hope that everyone becomes more educated about what each option holds and that the City of Ripon understands that everyone deserves to have a place and we can spend that money in the best way possible.”

Wise words from a wise young woman.

THE COMMON REPORT: Mitchell gift. Misunderstood, hopefully not misused.
