Sometimes you just need to get out of Ripon. This weekend is a great opportunity to see some improv. Live theatre created in the moment based on one audience suggestion. Usually getting your improv ticket is a recipe for contemplation and laughing out loud.
This weekend carries a great reason to escape town for a taste of the city. It’s Green Bay’s 8th annual improv festival and there are so many great teams performing! Improv has come along way since the tv show “Who’s Line Is It Anyway”, but if you haven’t had your pulse on the scene, you wouldn’t know just how much better it’s gotten. It’s an improv nation! I’ve even heard improvisers describe the movement as “improv is the new church.” Either way, audiences can expect their exploration to pay off with a big dopamine boost in the brain and heart healthy belly laughs this weekend.
My personal favorite team on the lineup is Chicago’s own Anarchy, an improvised Rock Opera playing Saturday night at 9:30. They always crush it with amazing harmonies, detailed characters and a gripping narrative. You’d think the show was scripted if you didn’t know they were such talented musical improvisers. The group Anarchy was formed by some of my classmates at The Second City Training Center in Chicago and they blow me away every time I have the privilege of watching them play.
