Elizabeth Fitzgibbon, an independent candidate for Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District, has signed two Moms for Liberty pledges: the Parent Pledge and the AI Safety in Education Pledge.
The Parent Pledge states: “I pledge to honor the fundamental rights of parents including, but not limited to the right to direct the education, medical care, and moral upbringing of their children. I pledge to advance policies that strengthen parental involvement and decision-making, increase transparency, defend against government overreach, and secure parental rights at all levels of government.”
Fitzgibbon tells the Ripon Rabbit Hole that “parents do not surrender their fundamental rights when their children enter a school system or interact with government institutions. As someone who has experienced firsthand how decisions made within the family law system can profoundly affect a parent’s ability to protect and raise a child, I believe parental authority must be respected, transparency must be guaranteed, and government power must have clear limits.”
The AI Safety in Education Pledge states: “I pledge to defend parents’ fundamental right to direct their children’s education and upbringing. Any use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in K–12 schools must serve families, protect students, and respect parental authority. I support the following guardrails for the creation and implementation of AI in K–12 education,” to which it lists guardrails protecting student data, prohibiting AI-driven social-emotional learning and mental health services, and data transparency.
When it comes to the use of artificial intelligence in education, Fitzgibbon says, “Technology should serve children and families—not replace parental judgment or operate beyond public scrutiny. When artificial intelligence is introduced into K–12 education, parents deserve to know what information is being collected, how algorithms are being used, and who is making decisions that affect their children. Innovation cannot come at the expense of children’s safety, privacy, or parents’ fundamental rights.”
Fitzgibbon also says parental rights extend beyond one area of public policy. These areas include education, medical care, and the moral upbringing of children. No matter the issue, parents are the core decision makers for their children, not technology.
“Children are not government property, data points, or experiments in technological innovation,” says Fitzgibbon. “They are individuals whose safety, privacy, education, and upbringing deserve protection.”
Fitzgibbon is running against four other candidates. She is currently the only congressional candidate in the 6th district to have signed both pledges in the 2026 election. A full list of candidates who have signed the Parent Pledge is available on the Moms for Liberty website.
